The name of Bansko is a symbol and pillar of Bulgarian patriotism - a centuries-old centre of faith, nationality and language. Here the hope for freedom has never died, the Bulgarian song and mother language have never faded away. Famous merchants, educators, writers, poets and artists from Bansko have studied different nations, social and life views and theories. In an atmosphere of a lasting creative contact with these, they have implemented the democratic ideals of freedom, independence, equity and social progress in their views and works. Even the most dramatic vicissitudes of history have not di-verted this progressive community from that concept of life. Bansko has always been an important centre of arts and culture. For three centuries, the town has given our culture people of great national significance and international recognition -Paisii Hilendarski, Neofit Rilski, Nikola Vaptsarov. Following the path outlined by them, many other educa-tors, writers and scientists from Bansko has contributed tre-mendously to the Bulgarian public conscience and culture. ![]() |
